Almost two years after the proliferation of AI tools like GPTs, I’m still finding new ways to collaborate with AI daily in life and work, and it has been a total game-changer. I want to share how I use AI to hack the hustle, reclaim time, and focus on what really matters in hopes that others can experience the same benefits.

So, what really matters? Inspired by Adam Grant's TED Talk, How to Stop Languishing and Start Finding Flow, my answer is simple: spending quality time with the people I love. As a mom to two fun, inspiring kids who are also what I call "AI Natives," I'm constantly searching for ways to reclaim more time (and yes, more sleep—but mostly more time). My kids inspire me to embrace the future and experiment with AI in ways that enrich our lives, fuel our curiosity, and help reclaim those precious hours for what truly counts.

What is an “AI Native,” Anyway?

I started using the term "AI Native" over the past year as I watched my two elementary-aged kids blend AI into their daily lives in a way only the Jetsons could have hinted at when I was their age. (Yes, totally dating myself here.) After nearly two decades working in education technology, I’ve seen how the term "Digital Native" became a common lens for guiding strategy in the K–12 sector.

Marc Prensky coined the term "Digital Native" in 2001, describing those who grew up surrounded by computers, video games, digital music players, videocams, and other tools of the digital age. By now, those early Digital Natives have become Gen Z, with their digital upbringing profoundly shaping who they are as consumers today.

From Digital Native to AI Native

In 2016, when my oldest was just three, she found her voice with Alexa—and I mean that literally. From the moment Alexa could understand her, there was no going back. And when my second child came along, it was the same story. I used to joke that they’d never know a world without a house full of “robots.” Now, it doesn’t feel like a joke.

By late 2022, ChatGPT arrived, making it easy for anyone, even kids, to explore AI’s potential. My oldest daughter and I started using ChatGPT together through an easy-to-use app on my phone, and she quickly picked up on its power and flexibility as a tool for the curious…and a way to help her mom explain things better. "Mom, just ask ChatGPT to explain it to your 10 year old" is a common request whenever my explanations to questions just aren't cutting it (which is quite often these days).

My two elementary schoolers, too young to be Gen Z, are part of what social researcher Mark McCrindle calls “Generation Alpha.” Given their aptitude for using AI in both practical and creative ways, perhaps their nickname should be “Gen A(i)?”

Making AI Part of Life and Work

Nearly two years into AI’s accessibility revolution, I keep discovering ways to collaborate with AI in both life and work. And yes, it’s been a game changer. The possibilities are endless, but I’m here to share some simple, practical ways AI helps me as a marketer, so I can reclaim time and focus on what truly matters.

Here’s my first guide, hoping it helps others find time-saving inspiration and collaboration as they Partner with AI Like a Marketer.

It’s a work in progress, just like any good collaboration, and I’ll be exploring and improving it as I go. I know I’ll make some mistakes along the way, just as ChatGPT warns us all—but that's the fun of learning, right? Give it a try, let me know what you think, and if you have any favorite prompts or hacks of your own, I’d love to hear them.
